About Shaina...

I have loved music from a very young age- my parents joke that I started humming before I could talk. 

A graduate of Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Music, my main instrument is flute, while I also play piccolo, oboe, and piano. My primary flute professor was Heidi Hendricks, and I also studied under Kim Fleuchas and Carolyn May, all three of whom were members of the Chicago Flute Club and well-known in the Chicago area. During college I was a member and soloist in both Trinity's Symphonic Band and Community Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Professors Brian Reichenbach and Eli Chen, respectively. A highlight in my senior year was winning Trinity's Concerto Competition.

Having made my home in the Richmond, VA area for the past 10 years, I wish to instill the same love I have for music in my students. I currently perform with both the Hanover Concert Band as well as the FluteForte!, a local flute choir in which I am also a committee member. I have taught both children and adults on flute, piano and oboe.
